Lleva, llévame en tu bicicleta
Óyeme, Carlos, llévame en tu bicicleta...
When we remember this wonderful city, the song of the well-known Latin music soloist about cycling does not cease to come to mind ...
Our dear Barcelona ... we walked tirelessly through your streets for a whole day!
I met you on a bicycle, Catalan city!

Stretched between the golden beaches of the Mediterranean and the hill of Montjuïc, Barcelona is the city with one of the most colorful personalities, a personality that erupts at every experience that tourists have.
Hundreds of cafes, clubs, bars and restaurants greet the tourist with a young and adventurous spirit, the nightlife becoming a small part of what Barcelona means.
It is the capital of the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia, as well as the most progressive location in Spain, with outstanding art, fashion and culinary experiences.
In addition, there are many options for the moments when the sun is high, high in the sky, namely visiting various tourist attractions, which can be reached both by classic means of transport and by bicycle. There are countless bike trails in Barcelona that we wanted to take full advantage of.
Like any community that wants to promote its infrastructure, they have also created opportunities to rent bicycles.

With the installation of an application on your smartphone, it becomes easy to rent bikes that you find in specially arranged places.

However, I chose the option to rent the bikes from the host on AirBnb, for an amount of about 10EUR.
Thus, we had the advantage of taking over and leaving the bikes right next to the property where we were accommodated, unrestricted for no fixed time.
However, the objectives we visited while cycling in Barcelona are also important.
So, let's proceed, the suite being by bike, to several locations.
Barceloneta Beach - In the past, hosting rudimentary factories and houses belonging to local fishermen, this beach was created in the eighteenth century, and today has become a place of relaxation and socialization.

The Olympic Games that took place in 1992 brought a major transformation of Barceloneta beach.

The most important change was the creation of the Passeig Maritim lane in Barceloneta, an ideal place for bicycles, scooters and pedestrians, where you can walk quietly for a distance of 3-4 kilometers.

Admiring some sand castles built of the fine sand of Barceloneta, we continued our adventure on a bicycle.

Infrastructure and neighborhoods of the city - Represents a goal in itself. The architectural diversity of the buildings, as well as the way the vegetation was maintained and integrated in the city life, amazed us and determined us to continue cycling, enjoying the hustle and bustle of the city.

Plaza de Torros Monumental - Opened in 1914, it was the last bullfighting arena in the city, before the authorities banned bullfighting, an action that took place in 2010. It is a building influenced by the Moorish style (Mudejar art) and architecture Byzantine, with a capacity of almost 20,000 seats.

Güell Park - A charming park, full of gardens and unique architectural elements, created at the request of the Catalan entrepreneur Eusebi Güell, whence the name of the objective.
It was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, a world-renowned architect who similarly created other well-known works in Barcelona, namely the Sagrada Familia and Casa Batlló.

The idea was for the park to become a garden city, inspired by English gardens.

The works started in 1900, and in the first three years, the architect dedicated himself to the construction of the walls surrounding the park, the entrance pavilion to the park, a shelter for cars, alleys and viaducts.
Despite the architect's dedication and the fact that it was initially thought that the area could be turned into a high-class residential neighborhood overlooking the city, Park Güell was ultimately a commercial failure.

However, the unique architectural style created by Antoni Gaudí will remain in our memories.
Ciutadella Park - The largest park in Barcelona, created from the ruins of a large military fortress from the eighteenth century, a fortress that was built by King Philip V of Spain. The set of military buildings was demolished, and in the late 1800s, the land was transformed into a public park.
Although, over time, it suffered damage after the Spanish Civil War, today the park is beautified by historic buildings such as museums, the iconic Ciutadella fountain, the Catalan Parliament and a zoo.

Catedral de Barcelona (or Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia) - The seat of the Archbishop of Barcelona, is a great Gothic cathedral, whose construction began in 1298, on the site of a Romanesque temple. The work was carried out in three stages, over more than 150 years.
Over the course of a year, the cathedral receives over three million visitors due to both the Gothic architecture and the choral group with its angelic songs.
The Gothic Quarter - With its medieval streets, includes remnants of the Roman wall of the city, drawn on a labyrinthine plan with exits in the squares, but also in a sumptuous port.

It was certainly noticed in the last photos that he caught us on the bike at night, but these moments will remain imprinted in our collection of memories.
